Who’s the contest for and what’s its timeline?
The Dessert Master 2020 contest is open to all pastry chefs, professional cooks, and chefs permanently living in Finland. The jury will choose eight applicants based on the submitted recipes and pictures. Eight best submissions will move on to the semi-final. After the semi-final, four contestants will move on to the final.
Jury
The jury includes leading professionals and representatives of the competition’s sponsors. The chairman of the jury is Pastry Chef Toni Rantala.
Judging Criteria
In both the semi-final and final, the jury will judge the quality, creativity and execution of the desserts and cakes. Each product will be judged according to the criteria listed below:

- Flavor 50 %
- Structure 20%
- Visual design 15%
- Innovativeness – new idea 5 %
- Execution 10 %
The highest scoring competitor will win the title of Dessert Master 2020 and the main prize.
Equipment needed in the competition
The Dessert Master competitors who reach the semi-final will be sent detailed instructions on how to prepare for the competition, and of the equipment and supplies required. The following items will be available at the venue:
- Worktop, water, refrigerating and freezing appliances, mixer, induction stove and oven
Prizes
1. money prize 4.000 €
2. money prize 700 €
3. money prize 300 €
All the semifinalists will receive a certificate, and the first three, a separate diploma.
